I picked Audra up from her mom's on Friday. We had a dance party Friday night. I uploaded videos to FB but trying to upload them to here was painful. It was taking so long I just didn't have the patience.
Saturday morning I took Audra to ballet. Then we went home and I squeezed in a quick walk with Jack. We had pictures scheduled at 1:15. We took Audra to her favorite, Chick Fil A, before we had to be at the appointment.
Our picture turned out beautifully. Daron purchased a deal of 1 picture each month for $20. For December we decided to do a family shot. We are both super excited at how well it turned out! We purchased 4 more 5X7 pictures for our families.
Saturday after pictures we hung out for a little while longer and then Daron took Audra home while I fixed a batch of scotcharoos and disappearing brownies. I discovered the brownie recipe a while back, and it's so delicious! Preheat the oven to 350 and grease a 13x9 glass baking dish. Then melt a cup of butterscotch chips and 1/2 a cup of butter in the microwave. I stir at 30 second intervals until melted. In a separate bowl mix a cup of brown sugar, tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, tsp vanilla, 2 eggs and then add butterscotch and butter. Then add a bag of chocolate chips, 3/4 cup peanuts (optional), 2 cups mini marshmallows, and put in the microwave for 30 seconds, then add 1 1/2 cup of flour. Pour batter into the 13x9 dish and bake for 22 minutes. You have to leave this alone and let cool and set and then it's ready to go and it's gooey and delicious!
Daron put soup on before he left to take Audra back so we had soup and relaxed on Saturday night.
Sunday I took Jack for a run and then we went to church. After church we got out to the garage, aka storage building, and organized and purged and moved Audra's big doll house out there. We were so excited to have that done!
The rest of Sunday was a low key easy day!
I did start the up day down day/alternate day/intermittent diet on Saturday. Even baking, I was good. I found a calculator online that let me know how many calories for my down days and up days so I was able to enjoy the soup on Saturday and stay within the allotted calorie range. Yesterday I was actually able to enjoy a brownie. The hard part will be today sitting at my desk all day for a down day. I can do it, I know I can!
Happy Monday! Back to work for me!
I started writing a long time ago. I write to get my thoughts out of my head. I write to remember. I write about everything and nothing in particular.

Holiday Party
My department had our Holiday party today. Food was provided from Boston Market, YUM!!!! Then if we wanted to we could contribute a dessert. I wasn't sure if I would have time so I did not sign up. When I make certain cookies I don't need a recipe. Last night when I realized I had time I had to google peanut butter cookie recipes. I thought I had everything I would need but it had been so long since I made that kind of cookie I needed to make certain I didn't forget something.
The cookies were a huge success today. They are chewy and delicious!!! Here's the recipe and I modified so since it's just a basic recipe I don't really have any particular person or site to give credit to.
1C butter
1C peanut butter (your preference crunchy or creamy)
1C granulated sugar
1C brown sugar (you can pack it I just dumped a bunch in and figured it was the equivalent of a cup)
2 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 (ish) cups of all purpose flour
It helps to melt the butter first, this makes it MUCH easier to mix. Add the peanut butter, sugars, eggs, baking powder, baking soda and vanilla. Then add the first cup of flour and mix til blended. Add the next cup of flour and mix. The consistency you need the dough to be is roll-able. Add enough additional flour to where you can pick the dough up in your fingers and form a ball without it being sticky and without it crumbling.
On a greased cookie sheet place the dough balls. I dumped sugar on top of each ball. You can also roll them in a bowl of granulated sugar. I took a fork and criss-crossed the cookies, flattening them and then put a little more sugar on top of them. Bake at 375 depending on how big you make the cookies for 8-10 minutes.
Cool on wire racks, I usually just lift the foil out of the cookie sheet and place on my wire rack. Really flimsy foil won't allow you to do this but if you use heavy duty it works.

Thursday
Hmmm this is going to be a lot of things all thrown out on the page.... Yesterday afternoon after work I stopped by the grocery store. I agreed to make a meal for a family at church who just had a new little baby girl. I was originally going to thaw out a pork loin and do green beans and mac and cheese but I forgot (or just decided to do something else subconsciously) to get the pork loin out of the freezer. I decided to get a pan of frozen lasagna (I have readers right now who are probably cringing but hey I know it tastes good) and then I got a can of green beans along with balsamic dressing and a can of mushrooms, so that if they want they can do the green beans with the balsamic dressing and mushrooms, because it's yummy!! I also got garlic bread sticks and apple pie. My thought process is they will probably have company and even if they don't want this meal, or all of this meal tomorrow night they might just appreciate having this meal on hand if they have company. I'm pretty excited about it and the fact that I got it all for under $20.
I got home and relaxed and loved on JB for a bit and then despite the fact that I wanted to wallow and be sad I put my running shoes on, gave JB his treats and headed to the gym. I did weights, for the first time in waaaayyyy too long and yes I feel it today. Then I ran, and I ran 3 miles in 27 minutes and I was ecstatic. The last bit I ran at a flat 8 minute per mile pace. I was pleased and felt good and ready for a shower!!
This time change has really messed me up, I feel exhausted by 9 but that's because my body believes it to be 10. I wish that we could just keep the spring time as I like having the light for longer. I guess that's selfish but I like coming home and having enough time to go out for a run and heading out at 5 is really pushing whatever daylight is left!
I have to go back to the dentist today to finish up what he did last week then I have to go back to my dentist to get the crown, it's a lesson in patience and the part I'm thankful for is that I didn't lose my tooth, that was what I thought would happen and I'm glad that this isn't the case.
I hope that everyone has a fabulous Thursday!!

8 minutes
Despite feeling just a tad overwhelmed by the monster new business issue I need to do, it's a huge gigantic pain and really I need to take a break from it. One part is completed plus some random other endorsements that were sitting in my email waiting to be done.
During my lunch hour I typically run home to let the puppy out. When Miss K was there over the summer I had to do this less frequently because she was often there and helped out. I don't like to leave him for more than 6-7 hours before taking him out again. I didn't get a puppy to ignore him and it's bad enough that I am gone as much as I am. That being said my lunch usually consists of a pleasant drive home, some quick puppy loves time and then a pleasant drive back to the office. I'm able to do this because I leave around 11:30 and there's not a whole lot of traffic. From where I live to get to work I don't have to take any highways. Usually it takes around 18-20 minutes. Some days I check email while I'm there other days I have another stop to make. Today was one of the, I had another stop to make days. Jack Banner knows the routine and then I gave him treats. I checked what ingredients I needed for my cookies, I emailed my mom this morning for this recipe:
In large sauce pot combine the following:
2 cups of sugar
½ cup milk (use same cup for the peanut butter, this way the peanut butter will slide out easily)
4 TBsp of Cocoa
Pinch or dash of salt
1 stick of butter (1/2 a cup)
Bring the above to a rolling boil
Remove from heat and add
½ cup peanut butter
3 cups of quick cooking oatmeal
Stir until mixed
Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper (hint put newspaper, paper bags or paper towels under the wax paper to absorb the heat from the cookies)
Allow to cool and store in a tight container. Will keep longer if stored in the refrigerator.
I gave Jack his treats and headed out the door. I walked in the doors of Wal-Mart with 8 minutes. I needed glade oil refills, sugar, milk bone treats, wax paper and oatmeal. I was in my car at the end of 8 minutes and made it back to work with 3 minutes to spare. I was fortunate that there were no long ridiculous lines. This doesn't always work but today it was perfect!! Our weather is ridiculous it is currently in the low 80's. We're supposed to get storms later. It's almost November and we've not had any truly cold days yet. I know they are coming but for now I'm enjoying the fact that I can still sit out on a patio and enjoy a meal or a drink!!

Chocolate & Peanut Butter = Yum!!!
This morning I had an email waiting that said we are celebrating our June birthdays. So for breakfast I had the layered peanut butter and chocolate dessert and a brownie. I justify it by saying I had really small portions. I also plan a run tonight so I'll even out the rest of my calories for the day. I asked for the recipe for the peanut butter and chocolate and it's SO good I had to share!!
Layered peanut butter and chocolate dessert or heaven on a plate!!!
Crust is 1 cup flour,1 stick butter and 1 ½ cups cashews. 13x9ish glass dish, Bake in 350 oven for 20 minutes. First layer is 1 cup powdered sugar, third cup creamy peanut butter, 1 8oz pkg cream cheese blended and then fold in 1 cup cool whip. Next layer is one 3oz pkg, choc pudding and one 3 oz pkg vanilla pudding plus 2 2/3 cups of milk and last layer is just cool whip. Refrigerate til ready to serve.
