Tuesday night I did not have to go to ballet class, because Girl Clean was too snotty and congested to go.
I had my meeting. It was a much needed escape from the argument that was taking place immediately before it. I have thoughts and opinions and I don't always agree with my husband. This makes him feel the need to keep fighting for his position. He is not going to change my mind unless he has a rational point. I was glad for my meeting!
Because of the discord Tuesday night it threw me off my usual game for Wednesday. I know I have to put my clothes out and I know I have to put my cleaning bucket by the door because I leave directly from work to go clean the office. Last night was going to be super special I was supposed to go to Noah's birthday party.
I forgot to put the bucket by the door. I remembered my work clothes and party clothes and makeup so I would not look like a hot sweaty mess for the party. Unfortunately I did not set out the cleaning bucket. I arrived at work yesterday morning and it hit me like a ton of bricks that I didn't have the bucket.
Instead of the fun party, I had to drive home, drive over to the office and drive home again. Not the way I planned my Wednesday at all. So bummed I missed the party.
Yesterday at work we had our monthly meeting. My boss nominated me for a non leadership feed back event that is actually a big deal. I'm very happy that apparently despite feeling way overwhelmed I'm actually doing an ok job.
Tonight I have my chiropractor appointment. I'm hoping that I can learn what I need to do in order to protect my knees and keep on running.
I was reading back over my August posts from last year. I am glad that I found my voice and started writing. Everything I said then I still believe in and it's interesting to see how things have changed in the year.
My birthday is coming up. I'm planning a lunch with my friend Nicole for the Saturday before. I have the day of my birthday (Tuesday) off and I'm thinking I'll probably drive to Boone. The Sunday before I need to check with my family and see if we can all meet up for dinner somewhere in the middle for Bean and Jelly.
Patrice's baby boy came home from the hospital yesterday. I have not talked to her so I don't have any details. I'm so thrilled that he was able to go home!!!
My pants are all fitting too tight. Obviously my repeated statements of "I'm going to do better" are just words. I've been working out as consistently as I can. I know that it usually takes a year for me to lose weight so I think if I keep doing what I'm doing then this time next year I'll be the weight I want to be again.
Maybe. I was less consistent about working out in October/November/December (I think) and then my husband is an awesome cook. All that combined I believe is the reason for my inability to lose weight. That and my candy habit.
I plan to work out tonight after the chiropractor appointment. Hopefully I'll get back to running on Saturday morning. Currently we don't have plans for the weekend. I pick up Girl Clean tomorrow night and I'm hoping she will be feeling better!!!
Sunday my parents are coming to dinner. This is a very very big deal. I'm praying it all goes well!!!
Happy Thursday!!!
I started writing a long time ago. I write to get my thoughts out of my head. I write to remember. I write about everything and nothing in particular.

change, work, running, good byes
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
Since the end of last week I've been in an odd mood. Perhaps because of changes, despite knowing that the only certainty we have is change (and birth and death). I've prayed in so many different directions and ways saying the same thing over and over. As I sat silent for a moment that verse scrolled through my mind.
I'm not guaranteed tomorrow. I know this. As I strive to grow and learn I'm aware that I'm very much a work in progress. Progress not perfection, this is the way I like it!
Last Friday night we had 330 covers at the restaurant, to put that in perspective on NYE we had 390, it was an extremely busy night. We went on a wait at around 7:15. Fortunately because I had truly tried to manage this we came off the wait at 8:30. I knew what would happen and was able to navigate accordingly. Restaurant week is just a crazy time!!!
Saturday morning was productive. We enjoyed a late lunch at "chick-a-la" (chick fil a) and Girl Clean played on the playground. We left from there and checked out the Marshalls that was in the same shopping center. Church Saturday night was awesome. Worship was wrapping up and I looked over and then looked again. One of my teachers from high school, who I hadn't seen since high school, was sitting a row over from us. I went to High School where I now live so I run into more people currently then in the past 15 years since I graduated from high school. After the service I said hi and introduced Mr. Clean.
Sunday I took Jack for a run. It was an awesome morning, and a great pace! My friend MFT was coming for lunch and Mr. Clean and Girl Clean were going to his parents for lunch. I got Girl Clean ready and then I was checking email when it got suspiciously quiet. I thought for a second and went into her room. She was hiding behind the easel, which meant she either had to go or had already gone in her pants, she had already gone. From past experience I knew this could be a mess. So I made her stand in a plastic bag. I removed her clothing, then took off the underwear. This way she was still able to wear the outfit I had dressed her in and I just threw the underwear away. She has no trouble with #1 it's #2 that she goes and hides for.
MFT arrived and we went to lunch. The place I originally planned for was closed on Sundays so we ended up at a different Mexican place. We were seated at a booth at this restaurant that looked out to the hotel where we first met each other when we were 7. I can't believe my friend is moving to Canada. I know I'll see her but to have had her so close for the past 3 years, it's hard knowing how far away she will be!
After lunch we said good bye. I made a stop for ingredients. My 21 day fast was up yesterday so I wanted to make chocolate chip cookies. I plan to continue to watch my sugar intake but I wanted to bake something. I brought all the cookies to work today!
Tonight I work at the restaurant. This weekend is my first 5K of the year. I'm really looking forward to it, despite knowing that the hills are going to be tough!!!

Catching up
It's Monday, and I am coming off the most amazing holiday weekend!!! Wednesday afternoon we were told our office was closing at 3, so that gave me a little time to kill in between the full time and the restaurant. Southpark Mall is 5 minutes from the restaurant and I knew I wanted to check the sales in the kids clothing so I decided to run in real fast. I found 2 little shirts and 2 dresses for an absolute steal!!! Then I had to head out for work.
For the Wednesday before Thanksgiving we were pleasantly busy. I was feeling OH SO MUCH better but still not 100%. By 7 I was feeling the fact that I hadn't worked at the restaurant in a week. Fortunately there was another hostess on and she stayed and I drove home.
Thursday morning I woke up early and put my running clothes on. I was running the Turkey Trot 8K with my friend NH, my friend the event coordinator (at both the old and new restaurant) and 8000 other runners. We met in the back parking lot of the restaurant and walked over to the start. Speedy NH took off and did an awesome job!!! SB ran with me and if she hadn't been I don't know what I would have done. It's the slowest race I've run in a very long time. Not running for 2 weeks, combined with being so sick are the reasons but I had really hoped for a much better race. I do know that there is always next year!
I dropped NH off at her place and picked up Jack. He was visiting his friends (NH's dogs). We were home at 11 which gave me time to shower and get ready and then I carried all the food that Mr. Clean had cooked out to the car. He made lima bean casserole, pumpkin risotto and we each made a loaf of pumpkin bread. We were at his parents at 1:30. There was turkey, ham, the food we brought and so much more. The clean up process took forever!!!! It was fun though we were laughing and talking and I didn't mind.
Friday morning I met Jess and Hailey for coffee. It was so much fun to catch up and people watch!! I left there and picked Jack up, then we drove down to my parents house. I promised my mom I would help her get the Christmas tree put together and I also helped her clean out a closet. She had all of my report cards as well as my brothers. Plus just a crazy amount of stuff that needed to be purged. I left to pick up Girl Clean and then she and I met my parents and their friends out for fish .
Saturday Mom Clean treated me to a pedicure and Girl Clean got her finger and toe nails painted and then we went to lunch. We had a very fun girls morning!! Saturday afternoon was low key, and then we went to church.
Sunday morning I met Girl Clean's mom to hand off the girl at 9:30. The trainer was coming to meet us at 10 to work with Jack. We were finally able to work it out for her to come. She arrived and we started talking. Mr. Clean listened carefully and fully participated. Jack Banner did extremely well. Apparently he's not a difficult case, he just needs to know that he is not in charge. I was so very very happy with how everything went!!! She comes back in 2 weeks to work with us again. In the meantime we have to practice everything that we learned yesterday. There was so much information I feel like I might be missing things but our biggest things to work on with him is keeping him calm and making him sit and stay and lay down. I can not say enough good things about the trainer she is truly wonderful!!!!!
After our morning with the trainer we were starving and Jack was tired so we left him to sleep and we went to lunch followed by Christmas shopping. Then last night we watched The Princess Bride, I love that movie. I borrowed it from my parents on Friday.
Today is back to reality, work, plus work. However coming off such an amazing weekend I am so happy. I'm thankful I have the 2 jobs to come back to!! Thankful that we had such a wonderful weekend! Thankful that I have been so very blessed!

Catching up
Friday night I worked, and it was busy between 7-8 then done.
Saturday morning I was up early. I had the Lung Strong 5K, which should have been a 15K, next year. My time was not so great, but it was a run and done. I picked up Girl Clean after the run and we made our way back to the house. We went to a fall festival at Mr. Clean's parent's church for a few hours then the Girl crashed, she was so tired!!! I also fell asleep, on the floor, with Jack sleeping on my chest. Church Saturday night was wonderful!
Sunday I woke up and took Jack for a walk. It was a gorgeous fall morning! Then we got ready and before heading over to the Clean Parent's we took Girl Clean to pick out her Barbie outfit. We told her Saturday if she let us know every time she needed to go potty then she could pick out a new outfit for her "baby" (barbie). I reiterated this several times over the day to make sure she didn't forget and she did awesome! So she got to pick out the outfit and then we went and celebrated Sister Clean's birthday.
Sunday night I watched Jerry McGuire for the first time. I can't believe that I've never seen it before! It's just one of those movies that got by me. I really enjoyed it!
Monday I texted Dr. MG and asked for a plan B. The original plan was a hiking trip to Boone but it turns out that neither of us wanted to make that drive. She suggested the zoo since it's in the middle for both of us. This is just part of why I love my friend so much. We had an absolute blast. We walked around and saw the animals and people watched, the zoo is an amazing place for people watching!!! The giraffes were amazing, they are just so incredible to me!!! They had a baby monkey and we watched her for the longest time. I am so glad that Dr. MG suggested it and we've agreed that we'll have to make this trip a regular thing!!

restaurant conversation time
I never know what to expect on a Monday night at the restaurant. Some Monday nights can actually be busy. Last night was not one of those evenings. It was threatening rain and yet I still had a table that requested to sit outside on the patio. They got SOAKED because the rain blew in sideways.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people walk in and tell me that obviously a reservation is unnecessary because there are plenty of open tables. It only bugs me when the tone used is condescending and implies that my restaurant is not impressive enough because we have open tables. Give me a break, it's a Monday night during football season and we have one TV in our bar, who in their right mind would choose us over Taco Mac that is literally 5 steps away and has LOTS of TV's.
I was talking to my friend/the event planner/the one I want to be just like when I'm 50 and we were discussing my frustration/aggravation. As we were talking we discussed me going to talk to someone, which I've been meaning to do but finding the time to do this is difficult. Then we discussed finding the right person because if you don't find someone you click with it's a waste of time and money. We also discussed the staying factor. She asked why. I explained that the reasons I married Mr. Clean still exist. I'm frustrated/aggravated/irritated and still working through my angriness (not a word I know) yet when I put it all on paper I still love him. I see the traits coming back that I saw in the begining. I'm not sure what flip switched after our vows were said but the person I first met seems to be returning.
The other thing she and I talked about is just the time factor. Really the stuff we're learning now is usually covered when you're dating. I made that teenager mistake of thinking "it won't happen to me" regarding everything that could possibly be awful being awful for the first 7 weeks of married life. It's a process, and as much as I have not covered details on here I have been talking and sorting and listening as these weeks have progressed.
I'm more and more often hit with the knowledge that I married someone who is just like my mom. It is my understanding that most girls marry a version of their Dad. If I would have done that I would have married someone just like myself. So it makes sense that I married a version of my mom.
Tonight my plan is to work out. It will most likely be raining so I'll be at the gym. Jack is going to give me the sad face and I'll feel guilty for leaving him but hopefully on Thursday the weather will be nice and we'll be able to go for a run!

work weather thank you notes visits clothes shoes and candy
Monday night we were steady at the restaurant, which meant I didn't leave until after 9. So as soon as I got home I went to bed. Fortunately Jack is well taken care of and while I know that he misses me I also know that he's going out and allowed to roam. I do know that he is the master of the sad face!!!
My new schedule means waking up earlier but it also means leaving at 4:15 which is nice. Instead of not walking in the door until 5:30 I now walk in the door at 5, that 30 minutes makes a big difference believe it or not. He and I thoroughly enjoyed our time hanging out last night!!
My plan to go to the gym didn't work out due to stomach woes. So instead I finished the rest of my thank you notes. This has been hanging over my head all summer. I knew that I needed to get them done and tried to work on them as I had the time. Last night I pushed through and finished them!!! They are in the mail today!!
I received my K0hls catalog in the mail with pictures of the new J L0 line and doorbuster sales advertised for today. Guess where I'm going for lunch!!!! I am going to see if I can find a few Christmas presents.
The weather is forecasted to drop drastically for this weekend. I'm SUPER excited about this because Saturday morning will be the most ideal running temps for my 10K. I just pray that the rain stays away until AFTER the race!!! Lisa is coming to town and I have worked out the general itinerary running, yummy lunch!!!!, shopping including new baby girl clothes, so very excited about this!!!! Lisa is an Aunt again her niece was born earlier this week and she is just beautiful!!!
Speaking of girl clothes, I was organizing Girl Clean's clothes. Mama Clean buys a lot which is greatly appreciated!!! I told Mr. Clean we need to make sure she knows that we are set for jackets and coats. GC has 4 sweat/fleece jackets, 2 coats, 1 jean jacket and a sweater. I purchased the sweater and Jean jacket. The jean jacket I found at Target on Monday and I LOVE it!!!! I tried to find a picture but I couldn't. What the girl doesn't have is shoes. I pulled out all the pairs that are too small last night. I am sure before too long her shoe drawer will be full again thanks to Mamaw (Mama Clean). I'm so glad that Mr. Clean has a mom and sister who love clothes and shoes and accessories like I do!!!
This picture was taken last spring, Mr. Clean walked into her room to see what she was doing and she had laid out all of her shoes to admire them.
Starburst has a new thing, flavor morph. I picked up the bag at Walmart yesterday, it's 1/2 gone today. So much for cutting back on my sugar intake….
Happy Wednesday!!!

Weekend in Review
Friday night I took Jack Banner on a final run through my beautiful neighborhood. We ran my 4 mile loop. I have pictures and will post those once I charge my phone and can send the pictures to my email. After our run I took a quick shower. I pulled all the stuff out of my shower and put it in a bag to take to my parents. I loaded my car up with what I could fit and took a load over to my parents.
My mom had dinner waiting for me and helped me unload the car. She and my Dad were coming the following morning to help me set up for the moving sale. I drove back to my condo to try and organize the stuff for the morning. My phone rang at 5:20 on Saturday morning and it was my mom saying they were 5 minutes away. I was still in bed so I jumped up threw on some clothes and took Jack out.
My parents set up the tables and then my Dad kept guard and Jack while Mom and I loaded the van with my stuff. Then we unloaded and while my mom set that up I went back and loaded up more stuff then the last little bit my friend NH and I just carried. The sale was set to start at 7 but of course I had shoppers at 6:30 I told my mom to sell anyways. She and my Dad left and as I would sell something I would fill it in. I also brought out my canvas wardrobe and hung clothes up in it to better display them.
When it was all said and done I made money but fell $20 short of my goal. However I had gone through my clothes to pull clothes for my Godsister so I think I could have made more if I had put more out there. I only took 3 bags of clothes and 3 boxes to the donation place. I also had some things that I had determined I would not accept less then a certain amount for. The only article that fell into this category that I did not sell was Jack's exercise pen from when he was a baby. I purchased it so that he would have a large enough area for both a puppy pad and a crate. It worked well until he realized he could jump it and that was when I got him a large crate for the day. I paid $100 I was asking $5 people were trying to pay less. Here is what my thought process was, if you have a dog and you are not willing to spend even $5 for this pen then you DO NOT deserve to have a dog. I gave the pen to my friend NH to take to the humane society. I would rather donate that item and know that the animals will be well taken care of then sell it and contribute to animal cruelty or neglect. Stepping off soap box now…
I did get to spend a little time with Mr. Clean and Girl Clean before I had to be at the restaurant. I was only supposed to work til 9 but flaky hostess flaked and that meant I was there until 10, fortunately not til 11 that I could not have handled.
Yesterday I was at my condo at 8:40 and started cleaning and moving. I worked from 8:40 until 8:40. The morning I was on my own and got the living room and bathroom done and the van loaded with stuff. I took a lunch break around 2:40 to take a load to my parents house, unloaded, grabbed lunch then my mom rode back with me. We finished the 2 bedrooms and kitchen and loaded the van. There is just one load left and then it will be completely empty and ready for the new renter. I cleaned out the bathroom cabinets, took down the light fixtures, and cleaned every base board in the house as well as every door. My mom cleaned out the kitchen cabinets for me. I broke my rule about eating late because my Dad ordered a pizza for us to pick up on our way back and I held that steaming hot fresh pizza from the pizza place home and I was STARVING!!!!
I could not have done all that without my mom's help. I did have to hear the are you really sure question. I also hear the this is really sad, are you really sure. But she was also there helping me and was there the day before helping me so whether she agrees or not she's certainly going to stand behind me.
I hope everyone has a fabulous Monday!!!!
